Friday, March 18 NO SCHOOL!
  • NO STUDENTS!  Teacher Work Day - Happy catch up day/grades day!  Be sure you print your report cards after music/PE grades are in.  All report cards go home on WEDNESDAY, March 30th with students.  Donna will put labels in your mailboxes for you to tri fold them and add a label or we might have enough envelopes if you don't want to fold them.
  • Secure and tidy up your room, plants, and animals before you leave...:)

{Other NOTES from the DUGOUT}

Jumprope for Heart Pledge Forms due to Mr. Jeffries by March 31st.

National Xmas Tree Ornaments ~ our goal is to provide roughly 1000 ornaments for the Xmas Tree provided by our very own Forest Service due to me by June 1st.
Staffing Update:  I shared last Friday at our Art Show Display fun event, about staffing for next year. In case you missed it, currently we have no opening unless enrollment changes. I will keep you posted at year end what numbers look like.  Currently, here's our staffing plan for classroom teachers for 2016-17 based on our current enrollment:

  • Kinder:  Honey & Abby 
  • 1st:  Win & Chelsey
  • 2nd:  Felicity, Kim, & Lesley *unless we get #'s in 1st, we'll keep her there*
  • 3rd:  Ryan, Alice *will move to 2nd if Lesley gets to move to 1st*, Jamie VanMiddendorp, Sara Wolf (Jamie AM/Sara PM)
  • 4th:  Holly, Carrie, Brandi
  • 5th: Ernest, Anne
  • Special Education Change:  Congrats to Sara for being offered a special education job (no longer a temporary), and rest of same great staff!
  • Reading Team Change: Stephanie Bork is returning next year after her one year leave.
  • Paraprofessionals:  We do not have any open positions but the job is posted to simply build our applicant pool.
Spending $ Deadline:  I just learned this last week that all spending has to be done by March 18th. After this date, we will have to wait until new budgets on July 1st for new monies and to order anything.  If there are things you are wondering about, please let me know.

March 28:  Welcome Back Assembly in the Gym 9:30-10:00 ~ "Introduction to Common Expectations"
March 28:  3rd Quarter Report Cards go home with students TODAY!
March 30:  PTA 4th Quarter Meeting @ 8:10 AM- 9:00 AM in cafe

April 1:  No School ~ Parent Teacher Conferences
April 12:  Kindergarten Registration 12:00-3:00 (and we'll advertise a 2nd one for May 13 after the April one)
April 12-May 12:  SBAC testing at our school (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays) - No Computer Lab time open in the mornings during the testing days.  Consider using the lab in the afternoons or on a Monday or a Friday.

May 2-6:  Staff Appreciation Week
May 6:  (10:00 AM):  5th Grade PLMS Orientation/Tour
May 13:  Kinder Registration (Day 2 option) 12:00-3:00 in Kinder Rooms or an online option
May 20:  Track Meet (Grade 5) -  @ PLMS
May 20: Tentative PTA Spring Fling! (in the evening)
May 23, 24, 25:  5th Grade Field Trip to MOSS
May 26:  4th Grade Field Trip to DES and Roseberry

June 1: 2nd Grade Field Trip to Public Library
June 2:  Field Day (Grades 1-5) - AM for Grades 3-5 / PM for Grades 1-2 (No PE Classes today)
June 3:  4th Grade Field Trip (Ponderosa and to release trout)
June 6: 2nd Grade Field Trip to Ponderosa
June 7 (9:30-10:15 AM)  End of the Year Awards Program for Grades 2-5 in the gym
June 7 (1:30 PM):  Samson Trail Walk/Run (Grades 1-5)
June 8:  Last Day of School - Early Release - PM?
June 8:  5th Grade to Ponderosa
June 8:  2nd Grade Swimming Field Trip

  • Students who keep on coming to school, even with their burdens and often heavy hearts to do their best.

  • Teams/Teachers for showing so much support and interest in math adoption and math instruction this week. 
  • Jodi & Ginger for being so focused to get all our 'testing supports' entered into the computer to be ready for SBAC!  Your work does not go unnoticed.

  • Victoria for her dedication to kids at school and in the hours after.
