{Other NOTES from the DUGOUT}
SBAC (Grades 3-5): Just as a reminder, if your class did not participate in the Interim or Block SBAC Assessment, you will want to have your students each take the 8 minutes 'practice test' to learn the tools. Use the destop icon in the lab (ID Secure Browser) and click on the words below the sign in box. If you need help, want me to meet you in the lab, etc., let me know your date/time. Our official SBAC TEST is April 12th to May 12th. Please be sure you have the schedule. I'm also working with Ginger on retrieving all of our data from the SBAC's we have completed!
Math Adoption Update:
The math team met this week with David to review the 'votes' from the Feb. 12th. The goal was to narrow the curriculum down from 4 to 2. However, the majority of votes narrowed it down to one. David is working through the process to see if we are at consensus to choose our next math series and next steps.
Staffing Updates:
Observations: I am striving to complete everyone's second 30 minute (minimum) observation this next week. I will put notes in your box. We will schedule annual evaluations in April (the formal write up that goes to your file). If you prefer to give me a specific lesson time to observe, please send me a day/time.
Lunch Duty Schedule Edits: We had many shortages due to a lack of subs so please, review the new duty schedule for before school and lunch hour (it would have been in your mailbox last week if it effected you).
Geography Bee ~ Sofia is going to State! Congrats to our own 5th grader, Sofie Monahan, who just found out she made it to the State Geography Bee to represent BRMES! Here's a fun link with all the information. Good luck to Sofia on April 1st!

Staffing Updates:
- Reading Team: Please help me welcome Crystal back this next week part time and thank Karen for filling in those big shoes. They will split their days next week and then Crystal will be back full time.
- Custodian change: Pat will be leaving us (last day - Friday, today), and we welcome Dan Petty next week who will join Chris in the night shift.
- Kitchen change: Thank you for helping sign the apron and send off Tina with a BRMES memory as she moves to Arizona. We welcome Rachel to the kitchen to join Shanna.
- Job Openings are starting to post for 16-17: I will be reviewing applications, status of 'leave requests' from last year, and taking all your feedback to start putting together a staff plan for next year. In an ideal world, yes, I would like to be done by Spring Break. I will pull in teams to help with interviews as soon as I'm ready.

Team Topics & Tasks: Check with your Advisory Rep if you need help with turning in any of the following:
- Year End scheduling of all trips and activities by team (submit to Val)
- National Christmas Tree Ornaments ~ Let Val know which ornament, how many kits you need, and a deadline. Our challenge is to make 1000 ornaments by June 1st. I have ERR and 2nd grade only.
- Supply Lists: I have K, 1st, 2nd, 5th...
- Send any 'wish list' item ides to Val to add to PTA idea list
- Ordering for 16-17: What consumables? Agendas/Planners?
- Class Placement Ideas
- March/April we will work on starting a conversation about Report Cards and Gradebook changes you'd like to see so take note of your dreams and I will work to set up a big meeting.
Writing Team Update:
- Spring Narrative Benchmark for all Grades will be on May 18th. Talk to your writing rep about any ideas on a new prompt that all K-5 students write to.
- Turn in all Fall and Winter Writing Benchmark Rubric Scores (you can keep the writing) and the office staff will ensure all scores get entered into Milepost.
- Showcase any writing samples in the hallways on March 2nd (if you wish).
Behavior Common Expectations Updates:
- There is so much excitement in taking the 3 Kindness Campaign phrases to a more exclusive PBIS school-wide model. Thank you for your ideas, support, and interest. The team that met this week agreed with the core PBIS workshop folks, that we will start with the following after spring break.
- Expectations: Teach students all of the common, specific expectations for the cafe, playground, hallways, and restrooms. We will need help getting the words up and visible around the building. If you have any time, let Val know and I can assign a task.
- Acknowledgement: Focus on 85% of the students doing the RIGHT things, and following the expectations by handing out 1-5 Eagle Eye tickets per day (to show you noticed a student doing some great). It is critical that the staff model appropriate expectations as well and praise too! We will be the role models.
- Kick Off: We will introduce these two ideas to all students on the Monday we return from Spring Break. Right now, all we can do is prepare some visuals and get excited that we're going to celebrate great behavior!
