{OTHER NOTES from the DUGOUT}
Back to School Night: I'm trying to make this as easy as possible for all staff. I am hopeful you can all attend and bring your own families. Let's wear our new shirts and stick to our Night at the Ballpark Theme! Jodi hung up sign-up sheets in the lounge. I really am BEGGING for every staff member to sign up for 1 shift for the evening (we need about 10 people to help with set up; 10 to serve dinner from 5-6:00; 10 to serve dinner from 6-7:00; and 10 to clean up). With a TEAM effort it should be fun. The 'Open House' segment in classrooms needs no format - just general teacher expectations, introductions, etc. The office will be giving all teachers several papers that have to get handed out as well.
- 3:15-4:15 SET UP (meet in cafeteria area)
- DINNER SHIFT 1: 5:00-6:00 (Grades K-2 OPEN HOUSE in your classrooms - all other rooms locked up).
- DINNER SHIFT 2: 6:00-7:00 (Grades 3-5 OPEN HOUSE in your classrooms - all other rooms locked up).
- 7:00-8:00 CLEAN UP
- Everyone in the school starts school at 8:10 (even Preschool/Kindergarten)
- Dress Code for students and staff: Must have closed toe shoes for PE/outside play or wouldn't be able to run/participate (otherwise, open toe shoes are ok). With the weather turning cooler, hopefully most kids keep those toes warm and covered.
- I neglected to put up the flag daily. Dean/Ted are going to help me out until I can get some 5th grade leaders doing it. Thank you!
- The September Parent Newsletter for parents is coming out Friday. Please help me out by always making sure the monthly newsletter goes home the day you get it. I will try to add an extra copy for each teacher to have as well.
- Staff Birthdays ~ trying to keep your potluck plan from the past going ~ Sign up for a month and then that month team plans the day/tells me the date and honors the monthly staff birthdays. Sounds like we need 6-8 people to sign up for each month.
Grade Level Prep Time Meetings with me: These have been scheduled for the year via your email calendar. They are mostly every OTHER week.
Picture Day: Due to limited space and the fact that I don't want to evict Sean from his classroom (or anyone else), pictures will take place in TWO locations. Sign up for a time in the Staff Lounge. ALL STAFF need to have their picture taken too. PLEASE!

- Camera A: Cafeteria (until 11:00) - all DOWNSTAIRS classrooms
- Camera B: Room 112 (Jaime/Sara's room) - all UPSTAIRS classrooms
Calendar Events: Lots of meetings have been being set up via our 365 calendar/email system. Please ensure you have your calendar open daily and/or the BRMES staff calendar. I will continue to put important dates weekly on the blog/newsletter too. This isn't to challenge you; but to utilize technology and improve our communications (reduce need for meetings).
Lunch Charges for Kids:
Teachers, just as a reminder, if students are sad/afraid they won't get to eat as their family hasn't paid/did not turn in paperwork, Shanna's team will take care of them. Shanna's team will notify parents and will kindly remind kids as they go through the lunch line that they need to pay, but they will still eat.

Heartland Hunger / Food Bank are working on a weekly fruit basket to be used for students who don't have a snack/need a snack during the day. Fruit baskets will arrive weekly on Tuesday and live in the staff lounge to be used for STUDENTS who need a snack for the week.
Computer Lab Schedules: This years updates are posted by the lab doors (finally). I think only a handful of you have entered your scheduled time in School Dude. Please enter your weekly time for the year as soon as you can.
Committee Update: I'm still not quite sure what to do with all the interest on committees. As soon as I know which district committees require the same members, I will then ask you to help me process and simplify the number of obligations you each have to share the load of the work. Just know I'm stuck.
4th & 5th Grades Writing Contest:
Valley County/Meadows Valley is sponsoring a letter writing contest as part of the America's Best Communities competition. They have invited us to have 4th and 5th grade students write a response to the following question: "What do you love best about living in our mountain community?" A winning letter will be chosen from each school and the student's class will be treated to an ice cream party. Letters must be submitted to the office by September 30.
Box Tops Challenge for the Month:
PTA will be bringing each classroom a large ziplock to use for Box Tops. They are setting a goal to see if we can bring in 3,500 Box Tops by Sept. 25th. Let's go for the challenge and try to do it. Add a "Box Top" reminder to your parent notes and tell the kids! Any ideas for a fun, school wide reward day IF they meet that goal?
