Monday, September 7:  NO SCHOOL!  Happy Labor Day!

1st Week Reflection!  I'm super tired, but so excited about everything I saw this week.  I loved how focused and fun you all were in the classrooms.  The kids were so excited.  You have all been so kind to me and everyone.  It really is going to be an amazing year.  Enjoy each day and don't give up on reminding kids how we want them to behave.  Be proud of our first week!

Teachers:  If you saw your name on the computer lab schedule(s), PLEASE schedule it on SCHOOL DUDE as a reservation so they are all set.  If you need help, let me know. The 15-16 schedule will be on the computer lab doors.

Kindergarten Dismissal Time:  Just to let everyone know, I have approved our Kindergarten (Woodlands sub) parents to walk through the back yard/playground at their 11:30 dismissal time. It will get easier to know who these parents are after a few days so please be gentle to these parents coming and going through the back play area.

Parent/Community Workshop:  There is a community event next week scheduled as a parenting workshop to give us a perspective of what to look for in today's young adults in regards to drugs and alcohol.  It is free but a head count is requested for snacks.  I love this presenter, Mr. Galloway, and encourage anyone interested to go (especially if you have middle or high school aged children). It is on Thursday at the High School from 4:00-6:30 PM.

Flex Time in Policy:  It was pointed out that the Master Contract I have been using is outdated in some areas - specifically the contract day for certified staff where it once said exact times.  Policy says everything I said except it allows you to come early and leave early up to 30 minutes 'flex time' before or after school and that you are to have a 15 minute duty before and/or after school.  I'm sorry if this stressed anyone out but I thank those who allowed me the chance to learn/grow.  I'm looking at morning arrival time and may be adjusting some duty responsibilities on the playground.  Stay tuned.

Grade Level Common Prep Time Meetings will be scheduled starting after Labor Day.  Watch your email calendar for a reminder of which time I will be popping into your common prep time; I come to help you/answer any questions/learn from you all!

PTA Update:  I attended a full house PTA meeting this week and was moved by the amount of support they offer us all.  Thanks to Marnie and Evonne for sneaking in too.  They had a great turn out doing an 8:15 AM meeting but we then miss the 'T' in PTA (Teachers).  Bottom line:  they want to be sure you know about them and how they are working to fill many grants they received today. What an amazing group of volunteers who simply want to help our school.

Copy Codes:  Jodi has adjusted copy limits and set everyone up for codes.  If you aren't sure on your code or need help, please ask her for help.

Workroom Volunteer:  I'm working at setting up a 'workroom' volunteer where you can simply place things you want copied with your laminating needs and it will be done for you.  If you get in a hurry and it's not done fast enough for you; then you can just take it out of the basket and do it on your own until we get daily volunteers.  Watch for a basket next week.

Special Ed Meetings:  We have a new 'student meeting' calendar set up.  If you get an invite it means you are requested as the teacher for the meeting or the coverage paraprofessional for that teacher to be able to attend.  Just wanted you to know what was going on.  They will be on the blog too.
Weekly Appreciation from me {and anyone else who shares staff compliments with me}!
    • Holly for being the first one to hand me copies of 'going home notes'.  So appreciated and helpful! (I even added a mailbox finally for Principal so you can just toss an extra copy in there).
    • Traci for her bravery to bring a policy to my attention so I could learn!
    • Shanna, Tina, Dean, Marnie for making lunch time run so effectively!  Can't believe how great the line flows and how fast the kids are learning!
    • Nicole, Sara, and Carissa for being so willing to help me schedule out special ed meetings for the year!
    • From a parent:  "Wow, I love how happy everyone looks!"
    • Jodi & Donna - wow, what can I say about these two?  They have had almost zero minutes to even think and have carried out professionalism, customer service with a smile, and true patience like nobody I've ever met.   I don't even think they've eaten once this whole week. Thank you ladies. Your work does not go unnoticed.
