{Other NOTES from the DUGOUT}
Silent Auction Baskets (Due May 13th): Please turn these into the office by noon on Friday, May 13th. So far I have one from 1st & 2nd grades.
Color "tossing" Station Volunteers Needed: PTA is still in need of some adult help to throw color for a 1 hour shift next Friday for the Spring Color Fling! If you (or your family) wants to take a station and throw color on the participants for 1 hour (then participate the other hour), please sign up on their link: http://vols.pt/zeXyPz
Class List Process: Any chance every team can have these turned in by May 13th, please? So far, I have 1st grades in progress.
4th of July Events: Last Chance - anyone interested??? (Sean has some great ideas for simple events he would organize for us, if anyone is able/interested in working a 1 hour shift at a BRMES station during July 4th. Let me know if you'd be interested in a shift.)
Cleaning ALL Storage Rooms: I will be moving all old curriculum and unmarked items from storage rooms to the empty room next to Win's room (as a temporary 'freebie' room). David Pickard will be coming by in a couple of weeks with a vendor who may buy back many of our books. If you have any items to donate, please put them in the empty room in a specifically marked area (not to interfere with Mr. Cochrane or Ms. Smith's groups). Everyone will have the opportunity to browse/shop the 'donation' room once we have it ready. Any ideas/questions, let me know. Novel sets are going to be housed in the library copy room.
Field Trips: If you want to be sure your trip is on the calendar and busing has been requested, see the Staff Calendar. It will say 'Bus Request Made' next to your item if that is true. I also try to recap all trips below. There are a lot coming! Please be sure you have communicated with parents so everyone is aware.
Pictures for Slideshow: A parent is working with the 5th grade leadership students to create our year end student photo slideshow to highlight our memories of the year. If you wish to have some photos highlighted, please put them on the 'SHARE drive' under 'Photos 2015-16' under a folder you name with your last name. Please keep your photos to no more than 20 per classroom (as we don't want 100's to have to go through). Deadline: May 13th.
Staff Appreciation Week: I hope you enjoyed the week and know how much I value your hard work. As student test scores are coming in, I am reminded that those are one measure of your hard work, but when I saw the smiles on your faces all week, I know that means something too! Please be proud of what you've done and if it wasn't what you wanted, adjust and start getting excited for next year and know that we do this work as a TEAM! We had more than 50 parents donate items/goodies/and gift cards this week to make it a true 'school family'. So amazing! {P.S. If by chance you were missed with a cushion seat or a tote, please let me know so I can get you one. I will also score 'staff sport star' sheets over the weekend and announce a winner next week. Enjoy the many 'Catching Compliment' slips from now till year end too. I loved getting so many this past week}!
Student Birthdays: On each day of May, I will announce the corresponding # birthday for summer birthdays for students. ie. May 10, we'll announce June 10, July 10, August 10 also. This way every child will hear their name (or should).
Summer School: Sara Anderegg has offered to organize and carry out a summer school idea for our at risk Title 1 students (beyond the ESY Summer School). She cannot do it alone. If you have interest, talk to me or Sara ASAP. $25.00 per hour for Certified / Your pay rate for Classified. The schedule/hours will be determined by Sara and whomever has interest in this summer work.
Staffing Update: The interview team has turned over our recommendations for Board Approval. Thanks to our increasing enrollment, we are tentatively planning now for 3 sections of every grade and were able to offer positions to fit that growth. We do not have acceptance on those positions yet. At this time, I can only tell you that Katie Wright was hired to join our new 3rd grade team next year and she accepted! Congrats to Katie!
Classified staffing will be looked at in the coming weeks. We have to reevaluate our numbers of students and staffing before we will know if we have any openings.
Map: After the board meeting next week, I will begin working on a plan for classroom locations next year. I have a goal to get this out soon. After that, I will begin putting together some drafts of 'specials' schedules.
