{NOTES from the DUGOUT}
Custodian Update
Todd is still out on leave and as you may have noticed, we haven't always had a sub beyond Ted's couple of hours. Matt Moss' replacement will begin next week. And Ted, accepted a transfer to Donnelly so his last day will be Sept. 25. Patience and willingness to help out a bit more would be most appreciated as Dean is our only full time custodian at the moment.
Evaluation Steps (Certified Staff Only): Due by Friday, Oct. 2 {to review together at our Teacher Training Time}: 3 PERFORMANCE GOALS and your beginning of the year SELF ASSESSMENT. Turn into Val and then your 15 minute pre-conference will be scheduled soon.
Midterm of the 1st Quarter: Please be sure parents saw/get updated grades/progress notes or a reminder to check PowerSchool for midterm updates.
Lunch/Recess Time Adjusting: Thank you for the feedback and solutions to some lunch time concerns. For 1st and 2nd grades, it works best when they are sent inside to quietly wash and go straight to lunch one class or so at a time. The goal is to prevent a line inside at restrooms or in the cafe. We are working to keep grades 3, 4, and 5 inside the cafe until their 'outside recess' time or duty comes to the cafe to take them outside. This ensures we have an adequate number of students and staff outside.
Discipline: Until PowerSchool is set up and usable for you to see my discipline notes and for parents to see them, we will use the behavior notes (triplicate forms) kept in the office. Unless it is an injury related issue, please do not send kids to the office. Just ensure students are ok to go to class or can walk and talk or sit out with the supervisor who observed the incident, and then follow up by filling out the basics on the behavior slip in the office (leave it on my table) or send me a quick email so I can follow up as soon as I am able. Typically all I need is names, teachers, and a basic overview of what you witnessed. So far our incidents have been great; but I'd like to continue to recognize the positive behavior in kids and really keep praising those kids until we can get some school wide expectations in place.
iPad Carts: No big solution here yet. If you can spare 10 ipads from your cart or share them, let me know so I can set up a share system with the two rooms who don't have access.
Computer Lab: 2nd grade discovered it would be much easier for students to login more quickly if all their grade level programs were in ONE folder named, '2nd grade' on the desktop. If other grade levels think that would help them, just put in a ticket through the IT Dept. to request a grade level folder on all computers and indicate which programs you want.
Intercom: Thank you for sharing your feedback. Most of you can hear announcements. Hurray. If you are one that said barely, or not at all, please submit an IT Dept. ticket so they can work on a fix.
