{Other NOTES from the DUGOUT}
December HOLIDAY Events: In an effort to coordinate and limit some of the many ideas turned in that we may want to participate in....the Advisory Team Reps helped me to decide as did the weekly blog poll last week of these events we'll participate in his holiday season:
Parent Teacher Conferences: Please click here and provide me the # of families you conferenced with (phone or in person).
Black Friday Anyone? If there are any serious shoppers out there, let me know as I have a few wishes for the school but won't be anywhere I can 'Black Friday' shop!
Budget Awareness: We are striving to cut back on laminating projects as much as possible and unnecessary printing sent to the printers. The basket of 'unclaimed' print outs is quite thick. Much appreciation to everyone for trying to rethink days we may not need subs and can cover.
Guest/Local Author (Craig Vroom)willing to come to Grades 2-5 on either December 2nd or December 3rd to share his book and inspire writers! Click here to sign up online via a Google shared doc.
MTI Math Feedback: On Thursday, December 17th Jonathan and Sam from MTI will be back in McCall and are dedicated to time at the two elementary schools. They will meet after school that day with the District Math Team. I need to know from you and/or your team how you prefer to have them assist you during a math lesson that day and the ideal time prefer them to come to your classroom.
Sunshine Club: Win is willing to be our 'head' of our Sunshine Club. I'll have a price idea of what we may ask staff to kick in to get some money restocked in this fund. If you hear of/know of any staff members with something going on, please let Win know and we'll work to set up protocol for each event to be consistent; yet thoughtful.
Powerschool Grades: (Grades 3-5): Please make sure you are inputting grades and keeping it current (weekly at the latest) as parents are checking, and often are sharing that it's so outdated.
- Invite anyone interested in decorating a door. We want to add some holiday cheer to the building! I am planning on finding a tree to put up!
- Invite students/staff to participate in 3 Holiday Spirit Fridays (Grinch Day, Ugly Sweater, and Santa Hat day)
- Hay Rides with Hot Cocoa for kids on Dec. 18th (SIGN UP HERE! - each class will just ride hay ride for 15 minutes).
- Staff Holiday Gathering will be Friday, Dec. 18th 3:45-5:30 ~ start with a hay ride and go somewhere for warm drinks/snacks/social and hay ride back to the school by 5:30. Anyone coming on the hay ride social event need to bring one wrapped Christmas ornament for an exchange event.
- Sponsor a family (or more) in conjunction with Health & Welfare with a 'Giving Tree' and/or Cram the Van item if you wish to donate. 4th Grade students will also host a smaller giving event to take to the McCall Rehab center organized by Maggie and Lindsey's students.
- {We will NOT have Secret Santas, White Elephant Gift Exchange or do a fancy staff party this year due to the above other events. We also won't organize food days and will leave that up to the December Birthday team if they want to do a day.}
- 11:15 {workers go eat}
- 11:30-12:15 Walking Time {we'll see if a path can be created in the snow periodically
- Basic Plan: 5th Grade Ambassadors take out the 'equipment' and give kids who want to walk a punch card and they punch their card every lap. When students reach 20 laps, they get their first reward. 5th Grade Ambassadors will keep track of prizes and totals. Students can keep their cards or perhaps there's a way for 5th grade Ambassadors to collect them each week.
